The course introduces the key concepts, paradigms, methods and tools of educational and evaluative research with a focus on participatory research and educational evaluation strategies applied in the context of educational programs addressing children and adolescents.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS:
To know the main elements that characterize educational research, including in the field of media and intercultural education;
To know the distinctive features of research and evaluation methods and tools;
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
Read and interpret the results of empirical research in education;
Apply the concepts learned in different educational and training contexts;
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT:
Critically evaluate the use of data collection and evaluation techniques;
Methods and criteria for verifying the learning:
The evaluation takes place in the following way:
Students will take the exam through a written test lasting a total of 60 minutes which requires the answer to 60 multiple choice questions (2 or 4 response items). Scores are assigned by assigning 0.5/thirtieths for each correct closed answer (0/thirtieths for incorrect and/or non-provided answers).
The exam will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
– Not passed: significant deficiencies and inaccuracies in knowledge and understanding of the subject; poor analysis and synthesis skills, recurrent generalizations, limited critical and judgmental skills; the arguments are presented inconsistently and with inappropriate language.
– 18-20: Just sufficient knowledge and understanding of the topics, with occasional generalizations and imperfections; sufficient capacity for analysis, synthesis and autonomy judgment, the arguments are frequently presented in an inconsistent manner and with a lexicon inadequate.
– 21-23: Fair knowledge and understanding of the topic; adequate analytical skills e synthesis with coherent and logical arguments, but with an often inadequate vocabulary.
– 24-26: Good knowledge and understanding of the topics; good analytical skills e synthesis with arguments expressed rigorously, but with a vocabulary that is not always adequate.
– 27-29: Excellent knowledge and understanding of the topics; remarkable analytical skills and synthesis. Good independent judgement. Topics presented rigorously and with a vocabulary.
– 30-30 cum laude: Excellent level of knowledge and understanding of the topics. Excellent ability of analysis, synthesis and independent judgement. The arguments are expressed in an original way and with adequate vocabulary.
Attendance modalities:
The course, delivered in a blended mode, includes both in-presence lectures and distance learning activities. In the in-presence lectures, direct teaching will be balanced with exercises and assessment activities. The distance learning activities include video lectures, exercises, use of OERs and case studies.
